Do I need Flood Insurance?

While floods are the most common natural disasters, insurance coverage is not included in standard home insurance. *Homes and businesses in high-risk flood areas with government backed mortgages are required to have flood insurance.

A standard flood policy will cover structural damage, furniture, water heater, air conditioner, floor surfaces and debris clean-up up to $250,000. Contents of home are not cover unless you pay additional premium. *Business owners can get up to $500,000 coverage for non-residential building and its contents.

1. Flood risk (Your flood zone), Letters B, C, and X on FEMA flood maps is low-moderate risk, and Letters begin with A or V is high risk. 2. The type of coverage and amount being purchased. 3. The deductible amount you choose. 4. Location of your structure. 5. The design and age of your structure. 6. The location of your structure’s content. *Plan ahead, as there is typically a 30-day waiting period for an Flood policy to go into effect.
